Jonathan Gould
Jonathan Gould serves on the Board of Vineyard Churches Australia and is Co-Senior Pastor of Vineyard Brisbane West Church alongside his wife, Helen. He is also Vice President of CHI-Ministries, an international ministry focused on kingdom, prayer and mission among the nations. Jonathan is passionate about helping people encounter the Kingdom of God, strengthening local churches, equipping believers to partner with God’s work — and finds great joy in walking alongside others as they discover their place in that story.
Born and raised in Wales, Jonathan grew up with four sisters in a loving family. While studying mathematics in Brighton, he encountered Jesus during the final year of his undergraduate degree, and soon after sensed God’s call into ministry — stepping away from a PhD in Pure Mathematics to serve as a student pastor and community worker. It was during these formative years that he met Helen and developed a lifelong commitment to local church ministry.
In 1998 Jonathan and Helen joined a reconciliation initiative to Australia. What began as a three-week trip became a lifelong calling, eventually leading them to settle in Brisbane and raise their four children. Since 2007 Jonathan has served with CHI-Ministries, leading prayer initiatives and ministry teams in many nations.
Jonathan first encountered the Vineyard movement through Derek Morphew’s book Breakthrough and was immediately drawn to its emphasis on the present reality of the Kingdom of God — and to a family of churches where ordinary people are welcomed and given room to grow. He joined Vineyard Brisbane West Church in 2012, has served as Co-Senior Pastor since 2015 and joined the Board of Vineyard Churches Australia in 2020.
Jonathan loves the Vineyard and believes it carries a distinctive expression of Father God’s passion to bring his children home. The message of the kingdom and a commitment to prayer continue to shape his ministry.
When relaxing, Jonathan enjoys long beach walks with Helen, writing about the Kingdom of God, cooking and gathering friends around the table for good food and unhurried conversation, travelling to new places, and reconnecting with loved ones in the United Kingdom.
