Stephen Thompson

Stephen Thompson serves on the Board of Vineyard Churches Australia and the Board of Centrepoint Vineyard Church in Sydney. He is passionate about strengthening local churches, developing leaders, and helping the Vineyard movement flourish.
Born in the United Kingdom and raised in South America, Stephen returned to the UK for his schooling before beginning a life and career that would take him across several continents. He married Gail, an Australian, in 1987, and together they have built a rich family life in London, San Diego and Cambridge and, since 2004, Sydney. They have two children, Rebecca and Jonathan, and are delighted grandparents to four grandchildren.
Stephen’s faith journey has been impacted by the Vineyard movement since the early 1980’s in London. In the UK, he worshipped and served within renewed Anglican churches, including Holy Trinity Brompton in London and St Barnabas in Cambridge, as well as Riverside Vineyard. After emigrating to Australia, Stephen and Gail became part of Northridge Vineyard, where Stephen served on the church board for fifteen years. In 2024 they joined Centrepoint Vineyard and continue to invest in the life of the Vineyard family.
Professionally, Stephen is the co-founder and Managing Director of Brandon Capital, a leading life sciences venture capital firm. Throughout his professional and church leadership roles, he has sought to integrate faith, leadership, and service in ways that contribute to the common good.
When he is not working or serving in church leadership, Stephen enjoys spending time with his grandchildren, cooking, and gathering friends around a table to share good food, good wine, and meaningful conversation.
